As part of the PMP Group, PMP New Zealand's origins can be traced back to the global media empire constructed by Rupert Murdoch through the 1970s and 80s.

PMP (NZ) Limited is part of the PMP Group which is a publicly listed company based in Australia.  PMP Limited was established in 1991 when News Limited (now News Corp) divested a number of its operations and as a result PMP NZ Limited was established as a print focused subsidiary in the New Zealand print market. 

Over the years, PMP NZ Limited has acquired a number of printing companies including Adams Print, Bascands, First in Print and Times Colour, and has also expanded its business to now include letterbox deliveries, magazine distribution and digital printing.

PMP Launch

News Ltd. spins off magazine divisions Southdown Press, UK publisher Attic Futura, Griffin Press and other printing operations including Progress Press, Wilke Color and Wilke Directories into a new company, Pacific Magazines and Printing (known as PMP). The spin-off also included the largest door-to-door distribution business. 55% of the company is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.  PMP NZ Limited is established.

1991

New Zealand Letterbox Distribution

PMP NZ establish a New Zealand based distribution operation with the acquisition of Circular Distributors Marketing Communications, a company with over 35 years history in the New Zealand market at that time.

1999

PMP Rebranding

PMP Communications changes its name to PMP Limited, consolidating all heatset print businesses under PMP Print, and the letterbox distribution business under PMP Distribution.

2000

Gordon & Gotch NZ

PMP NZ acquires Gordon & Gotch's New Zealand operations.

2004

Maxum Corporation acquired

PMP NZ acquires Maxum Corporation (est 1991) expanding its market offering to include Digital Printing, Sheetfed and typesetting and design services.

2007

Netlink exits NZ market

The magazine distribution company, Netlink, exits the New Zealand market resulting in PMP incorporating the Netlink customers into it’s existing Gordon & Gotch business and network
